My very first homemade Calendula cream.

I did this for a school project and I would like to share the recipe with you.  I personally love Calendula (because of its unique yellowish colour) and decided to make a cream with Calendula infused oil.

In general, Calendula cream can be used as an excellent wound healing agent for:

  • Skin trauma (such as cuts, scales, burns, scrapes)
  • Skin diseases (such as ulcer, abscess, diaper rash, psoriasis, eczema, pruritus)

How to make the cream:

1) Combine the following items in a double boiler:

  • 3/4 cup of Calendula officinalis (Marigold) infused oil
  • 1/3 cup of coconut oil
  • 1/2 ounce of beeswax

2)  Heat the mixture (from Step 1) with low heat to melt all ingredients.

3)  Pour the mixture into a blender and allow it to cool to room temperature (i.e. thickened, semi-solid state).

4)  Turn on the blender to high speed and slowly pour a thin drizzle of the following mixture into the blender:

  • 2/3 cup of distilled water
  • 1/3 cup of aloe vera gel
  • 2 drops of lavender essential oil (as natural preservative)

5)  Blend until the cream looks white and thick (i.e. blender begins to choke)

6)  Pour the cream into a clean jar and store in a cool place.  Done ~~!!
